Portable Speaks on Airport Fight Video — Says He Was Targeted by “Death Pranksters”
Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has cleared the air over a viral video showing him in a physical altercation at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
In a new video shared online, Portable explained that the incident wasn’t what it seemed — he claimed he was actually the target of a prank gone wrong.
According to the “Zazoo Zeh” crooner, a group of young pranksters approached him at the airport pretending to stage one of their usual “death prank” skits, a trend that has been making rounds on TikTok.
He described the group as “death pranksters,” explaining their notorious style:
“They usually move in a group of six — one of them pretends to die inside someone’s house, then they all come crying for days before the person suddenly ‘comes back to life.’”
Portable said he reacted instinctively out of confusion and self-defense, not realizing it was a prank.
Opinion: When Entertainment Crosses the Line
Portable’s revelation raises a bigger conversation about the growing trend of dangerous pranks in Nigeria’s social media space. While the internet thrives on humor and viral content, some creators are beginning to blur the line between entertainment and harassment.
The so-called “death pranks” are not just disturbing — they’re emotionally manipulative and potentially harmful. In an environment like an airport, where tensions and security protocols are high, such stunts can easily lead to chaos or even legal consequences.
Portable’s reaction, though dramatic as always, highlights a valid concern: not everyone finds these pranks funny. Celebrities, especially those constantly in the public eye, are often under immense pressure — and being caught off guard by a fake tragedy isn’t something to laugh about.
Social media content should make people smile, not spark panic. The lesson here? Creators need to think twice before pressing “record.” Because what seems like a joke online can turn into a real-world mess in seconds. 🎥⚠️
