Portable begs Burna Boy for feature after squandering N20M gift

Portable begs Burna Boy for feature after squandering N20M gift

Street-hop sensation, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again made headlines—this time for lamenting that he has squandered the entire ₦20 million cash gift he received from Burna Boy.

Recall that Burna Boy generously gifted Portable the sum after his much-publicized celebrity boxing bout against Speed Darlington. However, in a new video, the controversial singer confessed that the money is gone and pleaded with the Grammy award-winning star for a collaboration instead of more financial handouts.

“I don spend that 20 million finish. I prefer featuring. Make una help my life. All my fans dey ask for featuring. Feature me, we go collect Grammy. You big pass Davido…” Portable said.

As expected, the singer’s plea stirred reactions online:

  • @damtosfashion asked: “Okay, what has he produced with 20 million Burna Boy gifted him?”

  • @bobotically quipped: “Lol, the man don Dey seek another attention. Make we Dey expect am to drop another album?”

  • @RealHizzay joked: “Bros comot all this Iron for your body make electricity no shock you ooo.”

  • @inis_heritage added: “Lol. He wants to eat his cake and have it. Dirty, lousy thing.”

Opinion:
Portable’s case is one that sparks both laughter and reflection. On the one hand, he embodies the raw, unfiltered energy of street music—a man who says it as it is and lives in the moment. On the other hand, his confession highlights a recurring issue in the Nigerian entertainment industry: the inability of many young stars to manage sudden wealth.

₦20 million, wisely invested, could have transformed Portable’s career and secured his family’s future. But in true “Zazoo” fashion, the money went as quickly as it came. Now, his request for a Burna Boy collaboration—while some may see it as clout chasing—actually makes sense. A feature could elevate his artistry beyond fleeting internet drama and put him on a global stage.

Perhaps the lesson here is that sustainable success isn’t built on handouts, but on opportunities that expand an artist’s craft and reach. If Burna Boy ever considers his plea, that feature might just be the turning point Portable needs—not just another viral moment, but a real shot at growth.
