Tanzanian singer Juma Jux gives wife Priscilla and newborn son a grand welcome home
Tanzanian music star Juma Jux pulled out all the stops to welcome his wife, Priscilla, and their newborn son, Rakeem Mkambala, back to the country.
The singer greeted them at the airport with fresh flowers and gifts before escorting them home to an elaborate blue-themed celebration. Videos of the heartwarming moment, shared widely on social media, show the family basking in love and joy.
At their residence, the décor featured balloons, framed family photos, and a giant banner reading “Welcome Home Mommy and Rakeem.” A large standee spelling out “RAKEEM” added a playful touch to the festivities.
Priscilla’s mother, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, joined in the celebration and couldn’t resist playfully teasing her son-in-law:
“Juma, you are so extra. What happened? Rakeem is actually one month old.”
Juma, brimming with pride, responded: “My son. Yes. My first son.” A visibly touched Priscilla exclaimed in delight: “Oh my God, Papa Rakeem is extra.”
Iyabo Ojo later praised the gesture, saying: “This is so beautiful.”
Opinion:
In a world where grand gestures often feel reserved for showbiz or fairy tales, Juma Jux’s celebration stands out as a sincere expression of love and pride. Welcoming a newborn is always a milestone, but the effort he put into making his wife and child feel cherished is the kind of romance and intentionality many couples dream of.
Critics may see it as “extra,” but perhaps being “extra” is exactly what family milestones deserve. Too often, life moves so quickly that moments like these are brushed aside. Jux’s elaborate welcome reminds us that joy is worth celebrating loudly, and that love, when expressed without restraint, creates memories that last a lifetime.
It’s not just about balloons, flowers, or banners—it’s about making loved ones feel seen, valued, and celebrated. And in that sense, Juma Jux has set a beautiful example of fatherhood and partnership.
