DJ Exclusive Cautions Nigerian Police: “Stop Targeting Only Flashy Cars”

Popular Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Exclusive, has taken to social media to call out the Nigerian Police over what he described as a biased and ineffective approach to stop-and-search operations across the country.

In a post shared online, the entertainer warned law enforcement officers about the dangers of focusing mainly on luxury or flashy vehicles, arguing that such profiling leaves room for criminals to move freely in less conspicuous cars.

He wrote:

“Nigerian Police only stop flashy cars for stop and search... Making it easy for thieves to rob, because all they gotta do is use cars that ain't flashy.”

DJ Exclusive’s comments echo growing public concern about police profiling practices, which many Nigerians have described as unfair and counterproductive.

Opinion: A Wake-Up Call the Police Should Heed

DJ Exclusive isn’t just speaking from frustration — he’s pointing out a glaring flaw in the current system of policing. For years, the Nigerian Police’s stop-and-search operations have often been criticized for targeting individuals who appear “wealthy” or “well-dressed,” while genuine criminals — those who blend into everyday traffic — pass unnoticed.

This method not only undermines public trust but also reinforces class profiling, where success or luxury is treated with suspicion. It’s a dangerous message in a society already battling inequality and mistrust between citizens and the police.

Security should never depend on appearances. A well-trained police force should rely on intelligence, behavioral observation, and proper coordination, not the kind of car someone drives. DJ Exclusive’s call, therefore, isn’t just a celebrity rant — it’s a rational critique of a policing culture that urgently needs reform.

Because, at the end of the day, real criminals don’t always shine — they hide in plain sight.
