Troops Rescue 10 Kidnapped Victims in Kaduna, Recover Ransom from Fleeing Bandits
The Nigerian Army has recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against insecurity, announcing the rescue of 10 kidnapped victims and the recovery of ransom money from bandits in Kaduna State.
According to a statement posted on the Army’s verified social platforms, troops of Sector 5, Operation PEACE SHIELD, acted on credible intelligence regarding the abduction of women from their farms at Ungwan Nungu, Sanga LGA, on 29 November 2025.
At about 06:40 a.m. on December 5, the troops intercepted the bandits just as they attempted to collect ransom payments from relatives of their captives.
The criminals were immediately engaged with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee into the forest.
The rescued victims include:
1 adult male
3 male children
3 elderly women
3 female children
They have all been safely debriefed and reunited with their families.
The operation also led to the recovery of:
One fabricated AK-47 rifle
One round of 9mm ammunition
₦1,600,000 ransom cash
The Army reiterated its commitment to defending citizens and ensuring that criminals no longer find comfort or safety in any Nigerian community.
✍️ Opinion: A Victory Worth Applauding — But the Real Battle Continues
This rescue mission is a much-needed ray of hope in a country where kidnappings have become a heartbreaking routine. The fear that once crippled communities is gradually meeting the courage of our soldiers — and this operation proves it.
However, while we celebrate this win, we must also acknowledge the truth:
✔ The bandits escaped — meaning they are still somewhere out there, planning their next move.
✔ The victims were rescued not in their homes, but in the hands of criminals — meaning the threat is still active.
Nigeria’s security victories must not be isolated headlines… they must become consistent realities.
Communities deserve to farm without fear. Children deserve to sleep without nightmares. Elderly women shouldn’t have to see rifles in the farmlands where they once found peace.
The Army has shown its strength. Now, the nation must show its determination by ensuring that:
Intelligence is strengthened
Follow-up operations are relentless
Local communities work closely with security forces
Every successful rescue is proof that Nigeria can win this war — if we keep going harder and never lose focus.
For today, we celebrate the courage of our troops.
Tomorrow, we continue the fight for a safer Nigeria.
