“I Don’t Believe in Marriage”: Lil Kesh Shares Bold Take on Love, Career, and Commitment

“I Don’t Believe in Marriage”: Lil Kesh Shares Bold Take on Love, Career, and Commitment

Nigerian singer and rapper Lil Kesh has sparked fresh debate online following his candid remarks about marriage, relationships, and personal priorities. Speaking on The Esther Show, the Shoki crooner made it clear: he doesn’t believe in marriage — at least not for now.

The 31-year-old star admitted that although he is open to love, he’s not mentally or emotionally ready for marriage, and doesn’t feel pressure from society or even his parents to settle down.

“Marriage? Maybe, later. But for now, I’m not of that mindset. I just don’t believe in marriage. They don’t work,” Kesh stated.
“I’ve seen a lot of unhappy marriages… I want a happy home, and I don’t feel like I can do that yet.”

💬 Opinion: Brutal Honesty or Fear of Commitment?

Lil Kesh’s comments offer a rare glimpse into the real-life dilemma many modern young adults face — the clash between personal ambition and societal expectations. While some see marriage as a sacred milestone, others, like Kesh, view it as a responsibility that requires deep emotional and mental readiness.

His remarks also reflect a growing sentiment among millennials and Gen Z who are choosing personal peace over performative partnerships. Rather than rushing into unions that may lead to regret or divorce, they prefer staying single, intentional, and self-aware.

And can we blame them? With divorce rates on the rise and headlines full of celebrity breakups, many are now questioning if marriage is truly the only path to a “happy home.”

🎤 Lil Kesh’s Stand: Not a Playboy, Just Self-Aware

Importantly, the Efejoku singer emphasized that his choice isn’t about chasing freedom or being a playboy.

“It’s not like I want to be free or play around. I just want to do it right when the time comes.”

In a world where people often rush into lifelong commitments under pressure, Lil Kesh’s maturity to say “not now” may actually be the real love language.

📌 Where do you stand? Is Lil Kesh being realistic or too skeptical? Let’s talk.
