Police Arrest Two Suspects Over Attempted Murder and Robbery of Rapper Lil Kesh

Kano State Police Command has arrested two men linked to the violent attack on Nigerian rapper Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh, at his Lagos residence.

The suspects, identified as Mathew Adewole (25) and Mukhtar Muhammad (31), were tracked down at Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano following an intelligence-led operation.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, Adewole confessed to attacking Lil Kesh at his Bera Estate residence in Chevron, Lagos, on August 19, 2025. The suspects inflicted a deep cut on the singer’s neck in an attempt to murder him, before forcing him to transfer ₦2.12 million from his account to Muhammad’s account.

Haruna confirmed that the duo have since been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

“This breakthrough was achieved through robust intelligence and community collaboration. The suspects will face the law for their crimes,” he said.

The Kano Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the operatives for their diligence and reassured the public of continued efforts to strengthen safety and security across the state.

Opinion

The chilling details of this attack are a reminder of the persistent threat of violent crime, even against high-profile figures. Lil Kesh’s survival after such a brutal assault is nothing short of miraculous, and the swift police response deserves commendation.

Yet, this case raises bigger questions. If a well-known celebrity in a secure Lagos estate can be targeted so violently, what does that say about the safety of ordinary Nigerians who lack such visibility and resources? This is not just about one artist—it is about a system that still struggles to protect its people from criminals emboldened by loopholes in enforcement.

Lil Kesh’s ordeal should spark deeper conversations on crime prevention, the strengthening of neighborhood security, and the urgent need to build a justice system where criminals know they cannot escape accountability.

For now, fans will be grateful their star survived, but the scars of this attack—both physical and emotional—will linger. What must not linger, however, is complacency in the fight against violent crime.
