Mangut Praises Plateau United’s Fighting Spirit Amidst Tough NPFL Season
Despite a turbulent start to the 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Plateau United boss Mbwas Mangut has praised his players for their resilience, character, and unwavering commitment in the fight against relegation.
In a candid reflection shared with Complete Sports and reported by TalkTalk Nigeria, Mangut acknowledged the rough start to the campaign but expressed gratitude for how his team bounced back in the second half of the season.
“It wasn’t a pleasant start to the season for us, but I thank God we were able to pull through,” said Mangut.
The Peace Boys, who endured a string of disappointing results early on, found themselves under pressure following a three-point deduction—a punishment tied to an incident after their home clash with Rangers International. Matters were made worse after a shocking home defeat to Niger Tornadoes, putting the club in serious danger.
“The players showed a lot of commitment. They fought bravely, even when we were counted out,” Mangut emphasized.
“They demonstrated resilience, determination, and a strong will to succeed.”
Mangut, who took over as technical adviser ahead of the 2025 season, also noted that the early inconsistencies were partly due to the team adjusting to his coaching philosophy and style of play.
OPINION: Grit Over Glamour – Plateau United’s Revival Is a Story Worth Celebrating
Plateau United’s season may not be one filled with silverware or high-scoring fireworks, but the story they’ve written is no less powerful. In a league where survival can often be as heroic as lifting the title, Mangut and his players have shown what true team spirit looks like.
Football isn’t always about the teams at the top — it’s about the stories in the trenches. The comeback from chaos, the belief when all seems lost, and the ability to adapt under pressure are what make this game beautiful. For Plateau United fans, this season isn’t just about survival — it’s about rediscovering identity, belief, and unity.
As they prepare to face Enyimba in their final match of the season, the Peace Boys will walk onto the pitch not just as survivors, but as a team that refused to give up.
