TG Omori Opens Up About Struggles Behind the Scenes: Only Started Profiting from Music Videos in 2023

Nigerian music video director ThankGod Omori Jesam, popularly known as TG Omori, has shared a candid glimpse into the often unseen struggles that come with being a top creative in the entertainment industry.

Despite being one of Nigeria’s most sought-after directors for years, TG Omori revealed that he only began making real profits from shooting music videos in 2023. The journey wasn’t smooth — for five years, he wrestled with bad production debt, often covering losses from shoot costs out of his own pocket.

Speaking during an interactive session with fans on X (formerly Twitter), TG Omori explained how hard it is for creatives to balance budget constraints with quality and profitability.

“Budget is never enough. In fact, I was in bad production debt for 5 years. Just had to live with it, I was paying up and taking more to cover up. I was only able to pay it off through money my brand and personality was fetching me. It’s a tough life for creatives. Hug a creative beside you today.”

💰 The Big Breakthrough

The breakthrough came recently, as TG Omori’s brand reputation soared, notably after Nigerian superstar Davido reportedly paid him a whopping N100 million to shoot the music video for his hit song ‘Jowo’ — a fact both Davido and Omori have since confirmed.

This milestone is proof that creativity and persistence can eventually pay off, even if the road is full of sacrifices.

🌟 Opinion: Behind Every Viral Video is a Story of Hustle

TG Omori’s story is a reminder that success in the creative arts often involves silent battles, financial risks, and sheer determination. While the glitz and glamour of viral music videos dazzle fans, the creatives behind the lens often bear heavy burdens.

In a world that constantly celebrates instant fame, Omori’s honesty encourages us to value and support creatives who shape the entertainment landscape, often at great personal cost.

To every aspiring director, videographer, or artist struggling to break even, TG Omori’s journey is a beacon: keep pushing, keep building your brand — your breakthrough may be just around the corner.
