Davido Talks “5IVE Alive” Tour, Family, Politics, and His Upcoming White Wedding
Global Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, better known as Davido, is in the middle of his blockbuster 2025 “5IVE Alive” North American tour — a sold-out spectacle that kicked off July 11 in Los Angeles and will run until November 20 in Atlanta. In between electrifying performances across the U.S. and Canada, the OBO took a break to speak with NoireTV-GlobalblackTV about the tour’s success, his family’s political legacy, and his much-anticipated white wedding in Miami this weekend.
Speaking on the tour, Davido described it as “amazing” and credited cultural diversity for helping him connect with audiences worldwide. While his previous Timeless tour was a learning curve, this run — helmed musically by Cobhams Asuquo — has been “taken to another level” in production and creativity.
The singer revealed that his collaboration with Omah Lay, one of the biggest hits from Timeless, lit up Toronto when they shared the stage. “That was a legendary night,” Davido said, beaming with pride.
On his privileged upbringing and the Omo Baba Olowo (child of a wealthy man) label, Davido admitted it came with scrutiny but insisted his hustle has always been authentic: “I left home at 15… I’ve always been independent.”
While politics runs deep in his family — his grandfather was a senator and his uncle is the current governor of Osun State — Davido ruled out following in their footsteps, joking, “Too much stress in politics, man.”
With his traditional wedding held in June 2024 and a court wedding before that, Davido is now set for his third and final celebration — a star-studded white wedding in Miami. “We have friends flying in from Nigeria, it’s going to be amazing,” he teased.
And after the wedding? Davido promises no slowing down — an African Stadium Tour, a European leg, new music, a documentary, and even an executive producer role in an upcoming film.
Opinion:
Davido’s story is proof that privilege doesn’t always breed complacency. Yes, he had a comfortable start, but he has built an empire that rests on relentless touring, boundary-pushing creativity, and an unshakable connection with his fans. His openness about the grind behind the glamour is refreshing — and a reminder that in the global music scene, talent might open the door, but work ethic keeps you in the room. As he steps from the stage to the altar this weekend, it’s clear Davido is in a season where both his personal and professional lives are in full bloom. If the 5IVE Alive tour is any sign, the next chapter will be even bigger, louder, and, of course, unforgettable.
