Former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, has officially hung up his boots after a career spanning nearly two decades.

The 36-year-old confirmed his retirement in an emotional post on X, writing:

“After much thought and consideration with mixed emotions, I’ve decided to retire from professional football.
I will first like to thank God for the talent and the long career I’ve enjoyed.
I thank my family and friends for their unwavering love, support and understanding till this day.”

Ideye enjoyed an illustrious club career, featuring across England, Greece, China, Ukraine, and Spain, where he proved himself as a hardworking forward with a knack for crucial goals.

On the international stage, Ideye earned 28 caps for the Super Eagles, netting six goals. He was also a member of the golden Nigerian squad that lifted the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, etching his name into the country’s football history.
