Priscilla Ojo Shares Labour Room Experience, Says Contractions ‘Aren’t a Joke’
Priscilla Ojo, the daughter of Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo, has opened up about her labour experience after welcoming her first child with Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.
The new mother revealed that she had initially planned to “slay to the hospital” and document her childbirth journey with content creation, but those plans quickly changed when reality set in. According to her, labour pains were overwhelming and left no room for glamour.
Taking to Snapchat, Priscilla recounted:
“We had to rush to the hospital at 3am! Contractions isn’t a joke, all plans to slay at the hospital and create content were cancelled.
Me: Rakeem, your due date is the same as Papa.
Rakeem: Please, this woman, I want my day alone.
@juma_jux sorry, my love, your son wants to shine alone.”
She further revealed that her baby boy, Rakeem, arrived earlier than expected, choosing his own special day rather than sharing the same birth date as his father.
Opinion: Beyond the Glamour, Motherhood is Real
Priscilla’s honesty shines a light on something many young women often underestimate—childbirth is not a fashion show. In an age where “content culture” and social media aesthetics dominate, it is refreshing to see a celebrity admit that life’s most profound moments cannot always be curated.
Her candidness is a reminder that motherhood strips away filters and highlights reality in its rawest form. The pain of contractions, the rush to the hospital at odd hours, and the emotional rollercoaster are experiences that bind mothers together, regardless of fame or wealth.
Interestingly, Rakeem’s choice to “shine alone” gives this story a heartwarming twist. It symbolizes individuality even at birth, a poetic start to a new life.
Priscilla may have missed the chance to create a glossy labour vlog, but what she gained is far more precious: the beginning of a real, unfiltered journey into motherhood. And that, in itself, is content worth cherishing.
