Ex-Man United Scout Tells Hojlund: "No Future at Old Trafford Under Amorim"
Former Manchester United scout, Mick Brown, has delivered a blunt verdict on the future of Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, insisting the 22-year-old has no long-term place in manager Ruben Amorim’s plans.
Hojlund, who arrived at Old Trafford amid high expectations, has yet to feature in the Premier League this season, a clear sign of his fall down the pecking order. His situation has sparked strong speculation about a summer move, with Napoli and AC Milan leading the chase for his signature.
Speaking to The Sun, Brown suggested that a return to Serie A may be the best option for the young striker:
“They know what he is capable of in Serie A, and he knows what to expect from that league. It’s a bit of a step down from United and the Premier League, with less pressure on him to perform. If he can get regular football and settle in Italy, it would be the best move for everyone. Hojlund doesn’t have a future at Manchester United or under Ruben Amorim.”
Opinion: Should United Give Up on Hojlund So Soon?
While Mick Brown’s assessment feels brutally honest, it also raises a bigger question: is Manchester United giving up too quickly on Rasmus Hojlund?
At just 22, Hojlund remains a raw talent with enormous potential. Yes, his debut season in England was inconsistent, but flashes of his pace, movement, and clinical finishing in Europe hinted at a striker who can grow into the role. To cut ties now might feel premature, especially considering how United’s history is filled with players who took time to settle—think of Cristiano Ronaldo’s early years before he blossomed.
On the other hand, Ruben Amorim is clearly reshaping United with his own philosophy, and if Hojlund doesn’t fit that vision, then a move to Napoli or AC Milan could indeed revive his career. Serie A is tactically demanding but less suffocating than the Premier League spotlight, giving him room to rediscover his confidence.
For United, the key question is whether patience or pragmatism should prevail. For Hojlund, the answer may be simpler: go where you’ll play, grow, and be trusted.
One thing is certain—whether in Manchester or Milan, Hojlund’s story is far from over.
