Napoli Demand Hojlund Plus £33.6m in Blockbuster Osimhen-Man United Swap Deal
In what could become one of the most talked-about transfer deals of the summer, Italian giants Napoli have reportedly demanded Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund plus £33.6 million in exchange for Victor Osimhen.
According to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, United’s director of football, Matt Hargreaves, flew to Italy last week to meet with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Giovanni Manna, signaling a serious push to bring the Nigerian hitman to Old Trafford.
🔄 United’s Striker Search Intensifies
Following a trophyless 2024/25 season, United are desperate to rebuild and reinforce their attack under new manager Ruben Amorim. Osimhen, 26, is seen as the ideal upgrade — a proven goalscorer with elite physicality, pace, and experience in top-level European competition.
However, Napoli’s asking price remains steep. While Osimhen has a £63m release clause for clubs outside Italy, Napoli appear unwilling to accept only cash. They want Rasmus Hojlund, United’s promising but inconsistent striker, plus cash — suggesting they value Osimhen’s market price well above the release clause in a swap scenario.
⚠️ Transfer Dominoes in Motion
Meanwhile, United are also in the mix for Liam Delap, who has a £30m relegation clause following Ipswich Town’s drop — but sources say Chelsea is the 22-year-old’s preferred destination.
With Delap likely headed to Stamford Bridge, United may feel pressured to accelerate Osimhen talks or seek other Plan B options in the market.
💬 Opinion: Risky Deal or Strategic Masterstroke?
Trading a 21-year-old talent like Hojlund plus cash for Osimhen is a bold move, but could also be a calculated win-now gamble. Osimhen is in his prime and can instantly transform United’s attacking threat, something the club sorely lacked last season.
Still, some fans might ask: Is it too early to give up on Hojlund, who showed flashes of brilliance but lacked consistency?
One thing’s certain: this summer could redefine United’s forward line for years to come.
