Chelsea Target Emanuel Emegha Commits to Netherlands Over Nigeria, Togo

Rising football star and Chelsea transfer target, Emanuel Emegha, has officially committed his international future to the Netherlands, snubbing possible calls from Nigeria and Togo, despite being eligible to represent both through his parents.

The 22-year-old striker, who currently plies his trade with Strasbourg in Ligue 1, revealed his decision in an interview on SUPERGAANDE’s YouTube channel, where he expressed full confidence in his ability to break into the Dutch senior national team, the Oranje.

“I believe one hundred percent that I can have an impact on Oranje. I’m a different type of striker than the others.
I don’t shortchange anyone, everyone is good. I’ve respect for everyone,” Emegha said.

The in-form forward is coming off an impressive season, scoring 14 goals and providing 3 assists in just 27 Ligue 1 appearances — numbers that have turned heads across Europe and placed him on Chelsea’s radar for the summer transfer window.

Emegha's decision is understandable, yet slightly bittersweet for Nigerian football fans. The Super Eagles, who’ve lost several dual-nationals in recent years, will certainly feel the sting of missing out on a dynamic, tall, and technical striker like Emegha — especially as the team continues its search for fresh attacking options.
