“From Hawking Zobo to African Champion” – Super Falcons Captain Rasheedat Ajibade Shares Emotional Testimony
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has touched hearts across Nigeria with a deeply inspiring testimony of her journey from humble beginnings to continental glory.
Speaking at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Prayer City, Ajibade revealed that she once hawked olive oil, kunu, and zobo as a young girl during church deliverance programmes — a far cry from her current status as African football royalty.
“I was one of those young girls hawking olive oil, kunu, and zobo during deliverance programmes,” Ajibade testified.
“But today, I give all the glory to God. Please, don’t give up. Keep praying, keep fasting, keep working, and keep believing.”
Faith, Hard Work, and Football
Ajibade’s emotional story was shared shortly after leading Nigeria to a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title. She played a pivotal role in the tournament, earning Player of the Match in three consecutive games and being crowned the TotalEnergies WAFCON Woman of the Tournament.
“Whenever things are tough at my club or with the national team, I pray. I do my part through hard work, but I never forget to seek God’s help,” she added.
Ajibade, who plays professionally for Atlético de Madrid Femenino in Spain, has become a symbol of resilience and faith, showing that background doesn't define destiny.
Opinion – A Role Model Beyond the Pitch
Rasheedat Ajibade’s story is more than a testimony — it’s a message to millions of Nigerian youths: your current struggle does not disqualify you from a great future.
In a world where celebrity culture often overshadows real stories of perseverance, her openness about hawking in MFM campgrounds as a child and rising to the top of African football is a breath of fresh air and a beacon of hope.
She reminds us that faith, discipline, and self-belief remain powerful forces for transformation.
