Five Super Falcons Stars Named in IFFHS Women’s Africa Best XI for 2025

Five Super Falcons Stars Named in IFFHS Women’s Africa Best XI for 2025

Nigerian women’s football has once again taken centre stage on the continental scene as five Super Falcons players have been named in the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s Africa Best XI for 2025.

The list, published on the IFFHS official website, features Chiamaka Nnadozie, Michelle Alozie, Ashleigh Plumptre, Christy Ucheibe and Rasheedat Ajibade, underlining Nigeria’s continued dominance in African women’s football.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Michelle Alozie, centre-back Ashleigh Plumptre and forward Rasheedat Ajibade were instrumental in Nigeria’s triumphant run at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where the Super Falcons clinched the title. Their performances were so outstanding that Nnadozie, Alozie and Ajibade were also named in the WAFCON Team of the Tournament.

Midfield engine Christy Ucheibe completes Nigeria’s strong representation, having enjoyed a consistent and impressive year both at club level and on the international stage.

The Best XI also includes South Africa’s Bambanani Mbane and Lebohang Ramalepe, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak — who was crowned the 2025 CAF African Women’s Player of the YearMalawi’s Temwa Chawinga, Zambia’s Barbra Banda, and Morocco’s Sanaâ Mssoudy.

Opinion: A Proud Moment That Reflects Nigeria’s WAFCON Supremacy

This recognition is not just about individual brilliance; it is a powerful endorsement of Nigeria’s collective strength in women’s football. Having five players in Africa’s Best XI speaks volumes about the Super Falcons’ depth, discipline and winning mentality.

More importantly, it reinforces Nigeria’s status as the benchmark for women’s football on the continent. From Nnadozie’s commanding presence in goal to Ajibade’s relentless attacking drive, these players didn’t just win games — they defined moments.

As African women’s football continues to grow and gain global respect, this honour should serve as both celebration and motivation. For the Super Falcons, the challenge now is to build on this momentum, invest more in development, and ensure that Nigeria remains not only champions of Africa, but also a force on the world stage.
