Evans Ogbonda Confirms Departure from Rangers
Evans Ogbonda has officially confirmed his departure from former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Rangers International, bringing an end to his stint with the Flying Antelopes. The left-back made the announcement through a heartfelt farewell message, expressing gratitude to the club for the support he received during his time in Enugu.
Ogbonda paid special tribute to Rangers’ general manager Amobi Ezeaku and head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, acknowledging their belief in him and the role they played in his development.
“I want to thank the incredible general manager, Amobi Ezeaku and the manager Fidelis Ilechukwu for their unwavering support and everything they did for me,” he said.
“I’m also grateful to other coaches, backroom staff, supporters and the management.”
The defender, who joined Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side in 2024, is expected to seal a move to a new club before the close of the current transfer window.
Opinion: A Calm Goodbye, A New Chapter Ahead
Ogbonda’s exit feels less like a dramatic farewell and more like a well-timed transition. His message reflects maturity, respect and appreciation — qualities that often signal a player ready for the next step in his career.
While Rangers will miss his presence on the left side of defence, this move could be a win-win situation. For the club, it opens space for new options and tactical adjustments. For Ogbonda, it’s a chance to test himself in a fresh environment, possibly with bigger challenges and greater exposure.
In the NPFL, player movement is a sign of growth, not instability. If anything, Ogbonda’s calm and grateful exit sets a positive example of professionalism. Wherever he ends up next, many Rangers fans will quietly hope he succeeds — proof that sometimes, goodbyes are not endings, but new beginnings.
