Evans Ogbonda Joins Zambian Giants Power Dynamos
Nigerian defender Evans Ogbonda has taken a new step in his career after being officially unveiled by Zambian club Power Dynamos. The Kitwe-based side completed the signing of the left-back last week, confirming his arrival ahead of the new phase of the season.
Ogbonda joins Power Dynamos from Nigeria Premier Football League side Rangers, where he spent two productive years with the Flying Antelopes. During the current campaign, he featured 14 times under coach Fidelis Ilechukwu before sealing the move. At his new club, the defender will don the number 23 jersey as he looks to make his mark in Zambian football.
Before his time at Rangers, Ogbonda also turned out for Bendel Insurance, steadily building a reputation as a reliable and hardworking full-back in the NPFL.
Opinion:
This move feels like a timely and ambitious step for Evans Ogbonda. For many Nigerian players, transitioning from the NPFL to clubs across Africa often provides fresh challenges, exposure, and a chance to test themselves in different football environments. Power Dynamos, with their strong reputation in Zambian football, could be the perfect platform for Ogbonda to grow further.
Beyond personal progress, transfers like this highlight the quality within the NPFL and how Nigerian talents continue to attract attention beyond the country’s borders. If Ogbonda settles quickly and performs consistently, this switch could open even bigger doors in his career—and inspire more local players to believe in opportunities beyond familiar grounds.
