Ojo Olorunleke at the Center of NPFL Transfer Tug-of-War, But Eyes Remain Abroad

Ojo Olorunleke at the Center of NPFL Transfer Tug-of-War, But Eyes Remain Abroad

Highly-rated Nigerian goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke is currently attracting strong interest from four Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs, but the former Enyimba star says his priority remains a potential move abroad.

The experienced shot-stopper, who most recently played for Wolwalo Adigrat University FC in Ethiopia, is now being courted by Shooting Stars, Enyimba, Bendel Insurance, and Kano Pillars — all eager to land a proven, top-level Nigerian goalkeeper.

Olorunleke had a brief spell with Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh SC after departing eight-time NPFL champions Enyimba last year, but is now back on the market with multiple offers on the table.

“Kano Pillars, Bendel Insurance and Enyimba too are talking to me,” he told DAILY POST.
“But I’m still expecting something outside, and I’ll decide this coming week.”

Proven Quality in Goal

Olorunleke is no stranger to Nigeria’s top flight, with a reputation for commanding presence, penalty-saving instincts, and leadership at the back. His experience in continental competitions and national team camps has made him one of the most sought-after free agents this summer.

With Shooting Stars and Enyimba aiming to reinforce their squads for a title push and Kano Pillars rebuilding for stability, the race for Olorunleke’s signature could heat up even further — if no foreign move materializes soon.

Opinion – A Waiting Game with High Stakes

While it’s clear the NPFL clubs are ready to welcome him home, Olorunleke’s international ambitions remain alive. At 28, he’s in his prime and knows that the right move abroad could still elevate his career and national team prospects.

However, should a foreign deal fail to materialize in the coming days, his return to the NPFL could be a game-changer for any of the top sides hoping to secure consistency between the posts.
