“Train Hard or Be Embarrassed” – Ruben Amorim Lays Down the Law at Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has sent a clear and chilling message to his squad ahead of the new season: slack off in training, and be prepared to be embarrassed — publicly.

The Portuguese tactician, who took over from Erik ten Hag last November, is preparing for his first full campaign in charge of the Red Devils after a difficult start that saw United finish 15th in the Premier League and lose the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to reporters during United’s pre-season tour in the United States, Amorim made it clear that discipline and accountability will define his leadership.

“Now they understand when I say something, I will do it,” Amorim said.
“I don’t treat the players as babies. But they have rules now and that can change the way you train. I’m always on top.
If you don’t train in the right way, I have footage to show you. And I show you in front of everybody.”

Culture Reset at Old Trafford

With the Red Devils coming off their worst league finish in decades, Amorim’s tough-love approach signals a complete culture reset. His strategy emphasizes merit, performance, and professionalism, with no room for entitlement or complacency.

He has already begun reshaping the squad, bringing in Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford to add attacking firepower — both known for their high work rate and tactical discipline.

Opinion – Ruthless or Refreshing?

Amorim’s no-nonsense stance may ruffle a few feathers, but it could be exactly what Manchester United need to rebuild a winning mentality. Public accountability in training is a high-risk, high-reward strategy, but it sends a clear message: you earn your place through effort, not reputation.

After a disastrous 2024/25 season, Amorim seems ready to break egos to build a team.

The question now is: Will the players respond — or revolt?
