BBNaija’s Gigi Jasmine Clears the Air: “My Tears Were Real, Not Strategy”

BBNaija’s Gigi Jasmine Clears the Air: “My Tears Were Real, Not Strategy”

Gigi Jasmine, a recently evicted housemate from Big Brother Naija Season 10, has spoken out against claims that her emotional outbursts during her stay in the house were all part of a game plan.

The disc jockey, who exited the show last Sunday alongside fellow housemate Victory, revealed in her post-eviction interview that her emotional displays were a genuine reflection of her personality and not a calculated tactic to win favor.

Gigi described the Big Brother house as nothing short of a “pressure cooker,” explaining that the intense environment takes a heavy mental and emotional toll on housemates.

“It is definitely not a strategy — that is who I am. I am an emotional person, I could cry at the drop of a hat. My family and friends always say that my heart is so big, and while that is my greatest strength, it is also my weakness,” she said.

She further explained that the isolation, competition, and constant surveillance often magnify emotions, making even the strongest individuals feel vulnerable.

“In that house, you can be one of 29 people, but you still feel so lonely. You want to present your best self, but at the same time, you want to remind people that you’re human. Everyone had their moments — mine just happened to show more.”

The Season 10 edition of BBNaija, which began with a two-day opening ceremony, has been described by many as the most competitive yet, with the winner set to take home a jaw-dropping ₦150 million, the largest prize in the show’s history since 2006.

Opinion:

Gigi’s honesty strikes a chord because it pulls back the curtain on something fans often forget: reality TV is still real life for the people inside. It’s easy to sit behind screens, judge contestants, and label every action as “strategy,” but the truth is, the Big Brother house is a unique psychological experiment that tests emotional endurance as much as it does social skills.

Her vulnerability reminds us that authenticity has its place in a game dominated by perception. Crying doesn’t always mean weakness or manipulation — sometimes it’s simply humanity showing through the cracks of a carefully built façade.

In a world where people are often pressured to “be strong,” Gigi’s openness is refreshing. Whether or not she wins the game, she has already succeeded in making viewers see a softer side of what it means to compete under constant spotlight.

Maybe, just maybe, that is the bigger win: reminding us that behind the glitz, strategies, and ₦150 million prize, the housemates are real people fighting real battles — with others, and within themselves.
