Modise Tips Nigeria, Morocco as AFCON’s Finest Ahead of Semi-Final Showdown

Modise Tips Nigeria, Morocco as AFCON’s Finest Ahead of Semi-Final Showdown

Former South Africa international, Teko Modise, has hailed Nigeria and Morocco as the two standout teams at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, following the Super Eagles’ impressive quarter-final victory over Algeria.

Nigeria booked their place in the semi-finals with a convincing 2–0 win against the North Africans on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams. The performance not only secured qualification but also underlined Nigeria’s growing dominance in the tournament.

Speaking on SuperSport after the match, Modise praised the Super Eagles’ style and attacking intent. According to him, Nigeria have been the most exciting team to watch so far.
“Nigeria and Morocco are the two best teams right now at the AFCON, in terms of how they play football. Nigeria are the best attacking team at this AFCON,” Modise said.
He also singled out Osimhen and Alex Iwobi for their influence, noting that Nigeria’s control of the game against Algeria was expected given their confidence and momentum.

With Nigeria set to face hosts Morocco in Wednesday’s semi-final, the stage is now set for what many believe will be the tournament’s real final before the final. Beyond tactics and star power, this clash represents two footballing philosophies: Nigeria’s explosive attacking strength against Morocco’s disciplined, well-organised approach.

In many ways, Modise’s assessment feels accurate. Nigeria look fearless going forward, driven by Osimhen’s hunger and a midfield that is finally clicking. Morocco, on the other hand, carry the composure and home support that often make the difference at this stage of major tournaments. For neutral fans, this is the kind of AFCON fixture that reminds everyone why African football continues to grow in quality and global respect.

Whether Nigeria’s attacking firepower will overpower Morocco’s structure remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the semi-final promises drama, intensity, and a performance worthy of a final.
