Éric Chelle Opens Up on NFF Contract Talks as Super Eagles Prepare for Busy Schedule

Éric Chelle, head coach of the Super Eagles, has addressed ongoing discussions بشأن his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), confirming that negotiations are currently being handled by his agent.

Chelle, who is under contract until January 2027, has attracted attention following his impressive run with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the team secured a third-place finish.

Speaking to journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, the 48-year-old acknowledged that financial details are part of the ongoing discussions but emphasized his focus remains on coaching duties.

“Yes, there are financial issues to be discussed and resolved. But I leave them to my agent to handle with the Federation. I want to concentrate on the job and the task at hand,” Chelle said.

Looking ahead, Chelle will lead Nigeria into the 2026 Unity Cup, where they face Zimbabwe national football team in the semi-final on May 26. The Super Eagles are also scheduled for high-profile international friendlies against Poland national football team and Portugal national football team in June.

In preparation, the coach is expected to scout talent from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as he builds a competitive squad for upcoming fixtures.
