Fulham Decline Permanent Move for Samuel Chukwueze After Loan Spell

Fulham Decline Permanent Move for Samuel Chukwueze After Loan Spell

Premier League side Fulham F.C. have reportedly decided not to sign Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze on a permanent deal following his loan spell at the club.

Chukwueze joined Fulham on a season-long loan from AC Milan last summer in search of regular playing time after struggling to establish himself consistently in Italy.

Despite showing flashes of quality during the campaign, the Nigeria international managed three goals and four assists for the Cottagers, numbers that apparently were not enough to convince the club to activate their purchase option.

According to reports from Tuttomercato, Fulham have now decided against making the move permanent, meaning Chukwueze is expected to return to AC Milan this summer.

The winger endured a difficult two-year spell with the Serie A giants before his temporary move to England, where he hoped to revive his career in the Premier League.

Opinion: Chukwueze’s Career Feels Stuck Between Potential and Consistency

Samuel Chukwueze remains one of the most naturally exciting wingers Nigeria has produced in recent years, but his career trajectory has not quite matched the expectations that surrounded him during his rise at Villarreal CF.

The talent has never been in doubt. His pace, dribbling ability, and direct attacking style can trouble defenders on any day. The problem, however, has often been consistency and end product over a full season.

At Fulham, there were moments where he looked dangerous and capable of changing games, but modern football—especially in the Premier League—demands reliable output week after week.

Still, this situation should not be viewed as the end of the road for Chukwueze. At 27, he still has valuable experience across La Liga, Serie A, the Premier League, and international football with Nigeria.

What he may need now is not just another transfer, but the right environment where he is trusted as a key player rather than treated as a rotational option. Confidence plays a huge role in attacking footballers, and Chukwueze often looks like a player searching for stability.

The coming months could become a defining phase in his career. Whether at AC Milan or elsewhere, the next move must be one that prioritizes consistent football and tactical fit over reputation alone.
