“I Didn’t Eat or Bathe for Four Days” – Peller Speaks After Release from Police Detention

News Story:

Controversial Nigerian streamer Peller has spoken publicly for the first time since regaining his freedom, recounting what he described as a difficult four-day stay in police custody.

TalkTalk Nigeria reports that Peller was arrested on July 3, 2026, following an altercation with police officers after he accused them of pointing a firearm at him during a stop over his tinted vehicle.

He was later arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and obstructing police officers in the discharge of their duties.

The court subsequently granted him bail in the sum of ₦500,000, subject to conditions.

Speaking via his Snapchat page after his release, Peller explained why he had not immediately returned to live streaming, revealing that the experience had taken a physical and emotional toll on him.

“I didn’t bathe or eat for four days. I can’t show my face yet because I look ugly. It has never happened to me before in my life.”

He also recalled his first moments inside the detention facility, saying some inmates welcomed him humorously.

“When they put me in the cell, the people wey dey there said, ‘You’re our 001 now.’ Omo, I just burst into laughter. I didn’t eat or bathe for four days. They wanted to wicked me, but God saved me.”

His remarks have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with supporters expressing relief over his release while others continue to debate the circumstances surrounding his arrest and the legal proceedings.

There has been no official response from the Nigeria Police Force regarding Peller's latest claims about his time in detention.

Opinion:

Peller’s account has once again drawn attention to the treatment of detainees and the importance of due process. Regardless of the allegations against any individual, detention facilities should uphold humane standards and protect the rights of those in custody. As the legal process continues, the focus should remain on allowing the courts to determine the facts while ensuring fairness for all parties involved.
