Omoni Oboli Pays Emotional Tribute to Late Actor Alex Ekubo, Says He Will Forever Be Remembered

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has continued to honour the memory of her late colleague and friend, Alex Ekubo, describing him as someone who left a lasting impact on those around him.

Taking to Instagram, Omoni shared a photo of herself with the late actor and expressed her love and admiration for him, saying Alex would remain forever in their hearts.

“The memory of the righteous is blessed. Forever in our hearts, bestie. Rest in peace, Alex. You came, you saw, you conquered,” she wrote.

Following Alex Ekubo’s burial, Omoni also paid tribute by donating proceeds from her latest movie to his family, describing the gesture as a way of keeping his legacy alive.

Several Nollywood stars have continued to mourn the actor, with veteran actor Pete Edochie, Rita Dominic, Ufuoma McDermott and Chiwetalu Agu among those who have shared emotional tributes.

Alex Ekubo died at the age of 40 after a battle with advanced metastatic kidney cancer. His family announced that he passed away at Evercare Hospital following complications from the illness, and he was laid to rest on June 18 in an emotional ceremony attended by friends, colleagues and loved ones.

Opinion: The tributes from Omoni Oboli and other colleagues show the deep respect Alex Ekubo earned beyond his performances on screen. His passing is a reminder of the importance of celebrating people’s contributions while they are still here, and his legacy in Nollywood will likely continue through the memories shared by those who knew him.
