Rita Dominic Pays Tribute to Late Alex Ekubo, Says His Death Is Hard to Accept

Nollywood actress Rita Dominic has paid an emotional tribute to late actor Alex Ekubo following his funeral, expressing sadness over the loss of a young talent taken too soon.

In a post shared on her Facebook page, Rita described the actor’s death as heartbreaking, saying she struggled to understand the loss of someone who was still in his prime.

“It’s heartbreaking to see a young person in their prime taken from us too soon. I struggle to comprehend it and truly refuse to accept it,” she wrote.

She prayed for the late actor, saying: “Rest in peace, dear Alex. May you find comfort among the angels. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.”

Alex Ekubo’s family had announced his passing after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. The actor reportedly died at the age of 40 due to complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

The actor was laid to rest after a Service of Songs held at Monarch Event Centre, where several colleagues and friends from Nollywood gathered to honour his memory.

Celebrities including Nancy Isime, IK Ogbonna, Yomi Casual, Ayo Makun, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, Kate Henshaw and several others attended the ceremony to pay their respects.

Before his death, Alex had been away from the public eye for some time, with fans expressing concern over his reduced presence on social media. His absence from Instagram since 2024 had led to questions from followers, though some close to him had previously reassured fans that he was doing well.

The passing of Alex Ekubo has left many in the Nigerian entertainment industry mourning the loss of an actor remembered for his talent, charm and contributions to Nollywood.
