Edo Queens Respond in Style, Hammer FC Robo Queens 4-1 in NWFL Super Six Clash

Edo Queens put their opening-day disappointment behind them in emphatic fashion with a commanding 4-1 victory over FC Robo Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six playoffs in Port Harcourt.

The reigning 2024 champions entered the encounter under pressure after suffering a defeat to Nasarawa Amazons in their first match of the tournament. However, they responded like true title contenders, producing a dominant display that underlined their determination to remain in the championship race.

Star forward Chioma Moses set the tone for the afternoon with a clinical first-half brace, giving Edo Queens a comfortable advantage and leaving FC Robo Queens chasing the game.

After the break, coach Moses Aduku's side continued to dictate proceedings. Precious Oscar extended the lead in the 59th minute, effectively putting the contest beyond doubt as Edo Queens showcased their attacking quality and composure.

Just four minutes later, Mary Mamudu added a fourth goal to complete a ruthless spell that left Robo Queens with little hope of mounting a comeback.

FC Robo Queens managed a late consolation through Florence Godwin Freda in the 86th minute, but the goal did little to alter the outcome of a match that was largely controlled by the Benin City-based side.

The defeat marks Robo Queens' second consecutive loss of the playoffs after their narrow 3-2 defeat to Rivers Angels in their opening fixture, leaving them with plenty of work to do if they are to revive their campaign.

Champions Showing Their Character

Every title-winning team faces setbacks, but what often separates champions from the rest is how they respond to adversity. Edo Queens have answered questions about their opening defeat in the best possible way—with a convincing victory and four well-taken goals.

The performance demonstrated not only their attacking strength but also their mental resilience. Rather than dwelling on their loss to Nasarawa Amazons, they approached the match with urgency and purpose, producing one of the most complete displays of the playoffs so far.

For FC Robo Queens, the challenge now is to regroup quickly. The Super Six is a demanding competition where mistakes are punished, and consecutive defeats can make qualification ambitions increasingly difficult.

As the playoffs continue on Wednesday, Edo Queens have sent a strong message to their rivals: the defending champions may have stumbled at the start, but they remain very much in the hunt for the title.
