Super Eagles Midfielder Usman Mohammed Returns to Maccabi Bnei Reineh on Two-Year Deal
Super Eagles midfielder Usman Mohammed has completed a return to Israeli club Maccabi Bnei Reineh, signing a two-year contract as a free agent, TalkTalk Nigeria reports.
The 32-year-old joins Lior Reuven's side after leaving fellow Israeli club Ironi Tiberias, where his contract expired at the end of last season.
Mohammed is no stranger to Maccabi Bnei Reineh, having previously represented the club between 2023 and 2025. During his first spell, the experienced midfielder made 63 league appearances and scored three goals, establishing himself as a key figure in the team.
The former Taraba United player brings a wealth of experience to the squad, having enjoyed a career that includes representing Nigeria at both youth and senior levels.
Mohammed was part of the Nigeria U-23 team that won the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He also earned a place in the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, underlining his continued relevance on the international stage.
His return is expected to strengthen Maccabi Bnei Reineh's midfield as the club prepares for the new campaign.
Opinion
Usman Mohammed's move back to familiar surroundings appears to be a smart decision for both player and club. Having already adapted to the team's style and the demands of Israeli football, he is well-positioned to make an immediate impact. For the midfielder, the reunion also presents another opportunity to maintain his consistency and keep himself in contention for future Super Eagles invitations.
