Borussia Dortmund Eye Three Barcelona Players as Karim Adeyemi Transfer Talks Intensify
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly identified three FC Barcelona players as potential targets as negotiations continue over the proposed transfer of German forward Karim Adeyemi.
According to reports, Dortmund have informed Barcelona of their interest in young defender Héctor Fort, midfielder Marc Casadó, and winger Roony Bardghji, with all three understood to be among the players who could leave the Catalan club during the summer transfer window.
Barcelona are keen to strengthen their attacking options and have already submitted an opening bid of €20 million for Adeyemi. However, the Bundesliga side rejected the proposal, reportedly valuing the 24-year-old at around €40 million.
Despite the gap in valuation, negotiations remain active, with Barcelona optimistic that an agreement can eventually be reached.
Reports also suggest that personal terms between Adeyemi and the Spanish champions have already been agreed, leaving the transfer fee as the major hurdle before the deal can be completed.
Should the move go through, Adeyemi would become Barcelona's second major signing of the summer following the arrival of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United F.C..
Dortmund's interest in Fort, Casadó and Bardghji could provide Barcelona with additional flexibility during negotiations, especially if both clubs decide to explore a player-plus-cash arrangement instead of a straightforward transfer.
With the transfer window still open, discussions are expected to continue as both European giants seek an agreement that satisfies their sporting and financial objectives.
Opinion: A Player Swap Could Benefit Both Clubs
Transfer negotiations involving Europe's biggest clubs are becoming increasingly creative, and this situation presents an opportunity for both Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund to strike a mutually beneficial deal.
Barcelona clearly see Karim Adeyemi as a player capable of adding pace, versatility and directness to their attack. However, Dortmund's €40 million valuation reflects both the player's quality and the club's reluctance to lose one of their most dangerous forwards without adequate compensation.
For Dortmund, targeting promising young talents such as Héctor Fort, Marc Casadó and Roony Bardghji fits the club's long-standing recruitment philosophy of developing emerging players into future stars. Incorporating one or more of those players into the negotiations could reduce Barcelona's financial burden while providing Dortmund with exciting prospects for the future.
If both clubs remain flexible, a compromise involving cash and player exchanges may ultimately prove to be the smartest solution, allowing Barcelona to strengthen their squad while enabling Dortmund to continue building for the years ahead.
