The development caused conflict between Onyeka and her best friend Victoria, prompting viewers to accuse Onyeka of being envious of Victoria's relationship with Ozee.

During an interview with Cool FM radio, Onyeka emphasized that the audience had misread her intentions.

"I was never jealous of them. I was preoccupied with my personal life in order to place in the top three on the show. You all misinterpreted my body movement. I even like it when Ozee went to see Victoria because it gave me some alone time."
