Arsenal given green light to sign Osimhen

Arsenal has been given the green light to acquire Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, following the Gunners' departure from the UEFA Champions League, which was heavily blamed on the lack of a proven goalscorer in their team.

Arsenal fell 3-2 on aggregate to German club Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of Europe's best championship, and according to teamTALK, the Arsenal board has chosen to seek the Napoli forward to help them fix their scoring difficulties.

The 25-year-old striker is one of the most sought-after players in European sport, having come to prominence in Serie A during the last 18 months.

Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid are all rumored to be interested in the Nigeria international, but Mikel Arteta's side are currently the favourites to sign him this summer.

According to fresh reports via teamTALK, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have decided they wish to pursue Lille’s Jonathan David instead of Osimhen later this year. Valued at £42.8m, the Canadian international has been superb once again in Ligue 1 this term, netting 23 goals in 40 outings so far.

At 24, the former Gent forward is in high demand, but with Chelsea's interest, the Gunners can now concentrate on completing a move for Osimhen when the summer transfer window starts in August.

Arsenal's attack has been cycled this season, with Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Eddie Nketiah scoring a combined 24 goals. However, Arteta is looking for more reinforcements, like he did last summer with the big moves for Declan Rice and Havertz.

"The plans that we have for the summer are very clear, they were done almost at the start of the season understanding what we can have, the contract situations with some players, and how we can improve certain areas of the team," the 27-year-old Spaniard stated.

Insisting that arrangements are already in place, Osimhen is anticipated to make a decision on his future soon, and the Arsenal manager has recently sparked speculation that a move could be in the works later this year.
