NPFL Star Anas Yusuf Vows to Bounce Back Strong with Nasarawa United ⚽🔥

NPFL Star Anas Yusuf Vows to Bounce Back Strong with Nasarawa United ⚽🔥

Reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) top scorer, Anas Yusuf, has expressed strong determination to rediscover his form and make a big impact for Nasarawa United this season.

Yusuf, who took the league by storm last term with his sharp attacking instincts, has endured a slow start to the 2025/26 campaign, managing just one goal so far.

Despite limited playing time under the club’s new tactical setup, the forward remains optimistic and committed to giving his best for the team.

Speaking to Diarioas, Yusuf revealed his mindset and the motivation driving him forward:

“When he [the coach] arrived, he called to talk and told me: ‘I already know that you like to play on the left, but I’ll also need you in other positions,’ and I told him that I don’t mind him putting me wherever he wants and needs — I’m here to help the team. We have to respect the coach’s decisions.”

The striker also emphasized his work ethic, stating that giving his all — even as a substitute — is key to both personal growth and team success.

“The coach told me that I have to give 100%, and even if I come on as a substitute, I must give my all. That’s how I think. If I play 20 minutes, I give everything in that time. That helps my image and the team. I try to make the most of every minute I play with this shirt.”

Yusuf will be looking to reignite his scoring touch when Nasarawa United face Rangers International at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday.

💭 Opinion: Yusuf’s Mindset Is Exactly What Nigerian Football Needs

Anas Yusuf’s words reflect the heart of a true professional — one who values team spirit over personal glory. In a league where players often struggle with consistency or attitude after a breakout season, Yusuf’s humility and determination stand out.

His willingness to adapt to new positions and respect tactical decisions shows maturity beyond his years. It’s the kind of mindset that not only earns a player longevity but also inspires younger teammates.

While goals define strikers, commitment defines champions — and Yusuf seems to understand that perfectly. If he maintains this hunger and focus, his comeback story could become one of the highlights of this NPFL season.

💪⚽ Nasarawa fans will surely be watching — and hoping — for the return of their goal machine.
