Kun Khalifat Appoints Emmanuel Osigwe as New Head Coach After Uzoho’s Exit
Newly promoted Kun Khalifat FC have appointed former Nigeria international Emmanuel Osigwe as their new head coach, TalkTalk Nigeria reports.
Osigwe takes over from Obinna Uzoho, who was relieved of his duties last week following the club’s disappointing 1-1 home draw against Nasarawa United.
The club also confirmed that Chinedu Okonkwo, a CAF B–licensed coach, will serve as Osigwe’s assistant as the team continues its push to establish a strong footing in their debut season in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Osigwe’s first test will come quickly as Kun Khalifat face Warri Wolves this Sunday in Ozoro—a game many fans see as a chance to rediscover momentum and restore confidence after recent setbacks.
Kun Khalifat FC are currently experiencing the thrills and challenges of their maiden NPFL campaign, where every decision, every substitution, and every point matters.
Opinion: A Bold Move or a Risky Gamble? Kun Khalifat’s Big Decision
Kun Khalifat’s decision to part ways with Uzoho after just a 1–1 draw may seem ruthless, but for a newly promoted side fighting to survive in the NPFL, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Bringing in Emmanuel Osigwe is a statement—one that signals ambition, hunger, and a desire to rewrite their own story before the season drifts out of control. Osigwe’s experience as a former international gives him a different level of insight and authority, something the club may desperately need at this stage.
However, the real test isn’t Sunday’s match alone—it's whether Osigwe can steady the ship, unite the dressing room, and inject tactical clarity into a team still adjusting to top-flight football.
Fans will be watching closely. A new coach can bring fresh energy, but he will also face the pressure of proving that this mid-season shake-up wasn’t just change for the sake of change.
Kun Khalifat have shown they’re not afraid to make tough decisions. Now the question is:
Can Osigwe turn boldness into progress?
