Guardiola Admits Arsenal ‘Look Unstoppable’ as Title Race Heats Up

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that Arsenal are setting the pace in the Premier League title race, describing the Gunners as “unstoppable” following their scintillating run of form.

The North London side currently sit six points clear of City and seven ahead of Liverpool, showcasing both defensive discipline and attacking fluidity under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal continued their fine form with a clinical victory over Burnley, while Erling Haaland’s brace helped City secure a 2–0 win at Bournemouth. Meanwhile, Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 2–0 triumph over Aston Villa, ending a four-game league losing streak.

Speaking after City’s win, Guardiola lauded Arsenal’s balance and consistency:

“We are six points behind Arsenal, who look unstoppable right now because they play fantastic. They don’t concede goals, they are so solid, and they can score from many different situations and positions,” he said.

“But even with that, I think when we make this step a little bit better — when more players start scoring — we’ll be closer. Games will be tighter, and we’ll be able to win.”

💭 Opinion: Guardiola’s Words Reflect the Pressure Arsenal Have Earned

Pep Guardiola’s praise of Arsenal is not merely flattery — it’s recognition of a shift in power that has quietly taken root in English football. Arsenal are no longer just “the promising team” under Arteta; they’re now the benchmark for tactical precision and collective discipline.

Their strength lies not only in scoring but in how little they concede. With William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães forming an imperious defensive wall, and the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, and Declan Rice dictating play, the Gunners have become the team everyone is trying to decode.

Yet, Guardiola’s confidence in his side shouldn’t be dismissed. City are historically strong finishers, often finding their rhythm when the pressure peaks. With Haaland rediscovering his scoring touch and Kevin De Bruyne nearing full fitness, it would be naive to rule them out.

As things stand, Arsenal may look “unstoppable,” but if there’s one team capable of halting their charge, it’s Guardiola’s City. The title race, once again, looks set to deliver a thrilling story of resilience, rivalry, and redemption.
