Remo Stars Coach Ogunmodede Downplays NPFL Title Talk, Focuses on Next Match

Remo Stars Coach Ogunmodede Downplays NPFL Title Talk, Focuses on Next Match

Despite Remo Stars holding a commanding 10-point lead at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table, head coach Daniel Ogunmodede insists that he is not getting carried away with title ambitions just yet.

With 13 games left in the season, the Sky Blue Stars are in pole position to secure their first-ever NPFL title, having finished as runners-up in the past two seasons. However, Ogunmodede maintains a cautious approach, emphasizing that his team will take each game as it comes.

"One Game at a Time" Approach

Speaking to the club’s media, the coach made it clear that his focus remains on the next fixture against Nasarawa United, rather than looking too far ahead.

“The focus now is on the next match, for the title we will see at the end of the season. For us, the focus is always on the next match. We always take it one game at a time.”

Aware of the unpredictable nature of relegation-threatened teams, Ogunmodede warned that Nasarawa United will not be an easy opponent.

“Teams battling relegation are always difficult to play against. We saw what Lobi Stars did to Shooting Stars. We want maximum points against Nasarawa United and we will fight for it.”

Opinion: Smart Mindset or Playing it Safe?

While Ogunmodede’s pragmatic approach is understandable, some might argue that Remo Stars should start embracing the title challenge rather than deflecting from it. A 10-point lead is a significant advantage, and with the right mentality, they can push on to make history.

However, staying humble and maintaining focus could be the key to avoiding complacency. If Remo Stars continue this steady approach, could this finally be their year?

What do you think—should Ogunmodede’s men start believing in the title, or is his "one game at a time" strategy the right way to go? Share your thoughts! ⚽🔵
