Rangers Announce Screening Exercise for U-17 and U-19 Teams: A Step Towards Future Development

Rangers Announce Screening Exercise for U-17 and U-19 Teams: A Step Towards Future Development

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Rangers International FC, has officially announced plans to conduct a screening exercise aimed at discovering young football talents for their U-17 and U-19 teams. This move comes as part of the Flying Antelopes’ management’s strategy to build a strong developmental team for the club’s future.

  • Date: Monday, 17th March – Friday, 21st March.

  • Time: 9 AM daily.

  • Venue: Rangers Camp Training Pitch (The Parish), Liberty Estates, Mkpokiti Road, Enugu.

The five-day screening will be supervised by youth team coaches Felix Ifeanyi Nwosu and Ejike Uzoenyi, who are expected to identify promising players that will be integrated into the club’s youth setup.

A Bold Step Towards Nurturing Young Talents

This initiative by Rangers International FC is a laudable step toward nurturing young talents who can potentially become the stars of tomorrow. For a club with a rich history in Nigerian football, investing in youth development is not only wise but essential for sustaining future success.

By creating opportunities for U-17 and U-19 players, Rangers is paving the way for the discovery of local talents who could eventually break into the senior team and even gain international recognition. It’s a step that other NPFL clubs should emulate if Nigerian football is to remain competitive on both the domestic and international stages.

Opinion: A Move in the Right Direction

The decision to focus on youth development is refreshing and commendable. In an era where many clubs are solely focused on immediate results, Rangers’ long-term vision should be applauded. However, the success of this initiative depends on the club’s commitment to properly nurturing and promoting the selected talents.

This project could also serve as a blueprint for other Nigerian clubs looking to bolster their squads with homegrown talents. It’s high time NPFL clubs invested more in youth football development, which remains the foundation of sustained excellence.

Will Rangers' developmental plan set the pace for others? And could we soon see a new generation of stars emerging from this initiative?

What’s your take on this move by Rangers?
