Content Creator Behind Viral Paul Adefarasin Video Speaks Out: “I Didn’t Threaten Him”

Content Creator Behind Viral Paul Adefarasin Video Speaks Out: “I Didn’t Threaten Him”

The content creator behind the now-viral video involving Pastor Paul Adefarasin has finally broken his silence — days after Nigerians lashed out at the senior pastor of House on the Rock for allegedly brandishing a gun-like object while being filmed in his Range Rover.

🎥 “I Was Just Filming Range Rovers…”

Speaking via Daddy Freeze’s platform, the young man clarified that the intention was never to antagonize or intimidate the clergyman. He revealed that he was on a casual content mission at Ikoyi roundabout, aiming to capture at least 10 Range Rovers for a video concept.

As fate would have it, Pastor Adefarasin’s car was the first to approach.

“I didn’t move close to the car, I even moved back. I just hailed him with ‘Boss, Boss’, then he parked and wound down his glass. I thought he wanted to acknowledge me,” the creator shared.

To his surprise, instead of a friendly wave or nod, the pastor allegedly warned him off, and an object — which many speculated to be a weapon — was seen in his hand.

🔍 Pastor Adefarasin: “It Wasn’t a Gun”

Earlier, the pastor addressed the backlash during a Sunday service, making it clear that he doesn’t own a gun, and was not wielding one in the viral clip.

Still, the video sparked widespread online outrage, with many Nigerians criticizing the perceived aggression and raising questions about citizen safety and public accountability, especially from spiritual leaders.

✍🏽 Opinion: Between Curiosity and Caution

This incident highlights the delicate line between creative freedom and personal boundaries in a digital-first world. The content creator says he was just doing his thing, yet the encounter escalated due to misinterpretation and rising public tension.

Should celebrities and public figures be more tolerant of content creators? Or do they have the right to react defensively in a time where viral videos can twist narratives?

Let’s also not ignore the public’s quick assumption — while the object was never confirmed to be a gun, optics matter, especially when trust in law enforcement, clergy, and leadership is shaky.

🔊 What do you think? Was the content creator wrong to film random luxury cars? Or was Pastor Adefarasin’s reaction over the top?
