Victor Boniface Clears the Air: “I’m Not Rude, Just Expressive”

Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has spoken candidly about the misconceptions people have of him — especially on social media — where he’s often labeled “rude” due to his savage meme posts.

In a recent episode of The Culture League podcast, the Bayer Leverkusen star set the record straight: he’s not rude — he’s just expressive.

💬 "People Think We Are Rude, But We’re Not"

“People have a misconception that most football players are rude or prideful just because we don’t associate too much with other professions,” Boniface explained.
“There are certain things entertainers can do that we can’t. So, when we are not doing those things, they assume we are rude.”

This statement points to a broader societal expectation — where athletes are judged through the same lens as entertainers, despite living under completely different lifestyle and behavioral expectations.

🤳 “I Post Savage Memes, Not Insults”

Boniface also addressed the backlash he has received for posting savage memes on social media, a practice that has made some followers jump to conclusions.

“I post a lot of savage memes and people think I’m rude but I’m not. I would never insult anyone online unless you say something offensive.”

He added, jokingly but truthfully,

“Some of us have in-built craziness that people have to provoke out… but I’m just calm. But if you bring it, we will give it to you.”

🧠 OPINION — Let Footballers Breathe Too

Victor Boniface’s remarks offer a refreshing and honest perspective. Social media gives athletes a space to be human — to joke, to vent, to share emotions. But often, fans expect robotic perfection from them. One misinterpreted meme, and they’re labeled arrogant or disrespectful.

Let’s not forget: these players are under pressure 24/7 — physically, mentally, and emotionally. If posting memes helps relieve stress or connect with fans, why crucify them for it?

📣 What Fans Are Saying

Many fans on X (Twitter) and Instagram have come to Boniface’s defense:

🗨️ “Victor Boniface is real and relatable. People need to stop reading too much into memes.”
🗨️ “He’s one of the most humble players, but social media misjudges everyone these days.”

Victor Boniface isn’t just scoring goals — he’s scoring points for authenticity and mental clarity in a game that often expects silence off the pitch.
