Amorim Draws the Line: Sancho, Antony, Garnacho Only to Stay at Man Utd If No Buyers Are Found
New Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim has laid down a clear-cut stance on the futures of Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and others — they will only remain at Old Trafford if the club fails to sell them at the right price.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Amorim confirmed that the trio, who were left out of the club’s pre-season tour, are not part of his immediate plans, but could still return under specific circumstances:
“If they reach a point where they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our players,” Amorim said.
“If the club doesn’t get the right price, they will stay. I am ready to receive the players.”
🔁 Who’s Out of Favor?
Jadon Sancho: Still frozen out after his high-profile fallout with former manager Erik ten Hag.
Antony: Struggled to deliver consistent performances since his €95m arrival.
Garnacho: Surprisingly among the names left out, suggesting Amorim wants a clean slate.
Tyrell Malacia: Another casualty of the squad culling, reportedly due to persistent injury concerns.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported earlier that these players had been told to find new clubs, signaling a serious rebuild at United under Amorim’s reign.
💬 Opinion: Ruthless But Necessary?
It’s rare for a manager to be this blunt — but it might just be what Manchester United needs. Amorim is clearly not afraid to step on toes and make difficult decisions early in his tenure.
With United falling behind their Premier League rivals in recent seasons, this could mark the start of a culture reset at the club — one that rewards merit, not marquee status.
Still, eyebrows will be raised over Garnacho’s exclusion, given his talent and growth last season. Is it tactical, disciplinary, or temporary?
