Nasarawa United Eye Four Crown FC Stars After Impressive NNL Campaign
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Nasarawa United are reportedly interested in signing four standout players from Nigeria National League (NNL) outfit Crown FC.
The players — Moses Ngbede, Sodiq Rilwan, Afeez Yusuf, and goalkeeper Oladeji — are currently on trial with the Solid Miners as they assess their chances of earning a move to Lafia ahead of the new season.
All four were instrumental in Crown FC’s strong 2024–25 NNL campaign, helping the Ogbomoso-based side reach the Super Eight playoffs in Asaba. Despite their efforts, Crown FC fell short of securing promotion to the NPFL.
Opinion:
For Nasarawa United, this trial period is more than just squad strengthening — it’s a statement of intent. Recruiting from the NNL can be a masterstroke; it’s often in the second tier that hungry, in-form players with something to prove can be found.
The quartet’s familiarity with each other could also be an asset. If signed together, they’d arrive with built-in chemistry, potentially giving Nasarawa United a competitive edge early in the season.
For Crown FC, however, this interest is bittersweet. Losing four key performers in one swoop would be a blow, but it’s also a testament to the club’s ability to develop talent capable of attracting top-flight attention.
Football in Nigeria has always thrived on such upward movement — and if the deals go through, fans in Lafia may soon see some fresh faces ready to make their mark on the NPFL stage.
