Chelsea Hit with Double Blow as Nkunku Joins Milan and Jackson Nears Bayern Switch

Chelsea Hit with Double Blow as Nkunku Joins Milan and Jackson Nears Bayern Switch

Chelsea’s attacking department has suffered yet another shake-up as Christopher Nkunku sealed a permanent move to AC Milan on Saturday. The French forward, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig in 2023, endured a difficult start due to injury setbacks, managing just 14 appearances and three goals in his debut campaign.

However, he came alive in his second season, featuring 48 times across all competitions and finding the back of the net 15 times. Despite finally settling into life in west London, Nkunku’s time with the Blues has come to an abrupt end, with Milan swooping in to secure his services permanently.

Meanwhile, in another twist, Nicolas Jackson is edging closer to a move away from Chelsea. The Senegalese striker, alongside his representatives Ali Barat and Diomansy Kamara, is currently in Munich to finalize a deal with Bayern Munich. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern will announce the signing within 24 hours, with the German champions set to take Jackson on loan while fully covering his wages.

For Chelsea fans, this double departure raises eyebrows. Nkunku was just beginning to prove his worth, and Jackson, though inconsistent, showed flashes of being a long-term solution up front. Offloading both at the same time feels like a gamble, especially for a club still struggling to find stability in its frontline.

On the flip side, one might argue Chelsea’s decision reflects a strategy shift. Perhaps the Blues are clearing the deck for new arrivals, banking on fresh faces to reignite their attack. But the risk is clear: without immediate and proven replacements, Chelsea could find themselves short of firepower when it matters most.

The question now is — are Chelsea building for the future, or are they once again caught in the cycle of short-term fixes? Fans will be watching closely, but as it stands, Milan and Bayern seem to be the real winners of this transfer shake-up.
