Mobimpe Adedimeji Cries Out Over YouTube Impersonation: “You Won’t Go Scot-Free”
Popular actress and producer Mobimpe Adedimeji has taken to social media to express deep frustration and anger after discovering that a YouTube channel has been stealing her original content and impersonating her online.
In a strongly worded message shared on her official platform, Mobimpe revealed that the impersonator created a channel titled "Mobimpewrite’s Stories", uploading identical videos, posters, and even captions — all copied directly from her MOBIMPE TV brand.
“I’m tired. I’m fed up. Someone created a YouTube channel named MOBIMPEWRITE’s STORIES just to copy everything I do. Video for video. Poster for poster. She waits for me to post, then uploads the same thing, tricking people into believing it’s me,” she wrote.
“That’s Not Inspiration, That’s Disrespect”
The actress shared a particularly painful incident that occurred on her late mother’s birthday, when the impersonator allegedly copied her emotional tribute post word-for-word and passed it off as their own.
“That’s not inspiration. That’s disrespectful,” she wrote, adding that the fake channel is gaining followers, likes, and engagement by deceiving unsuspecting fans into thinking it's her.
Despite her team’s efforts to report the page, Mobimpe says the channel remains active and continues to profit from her creative labour.
“I’m mentally exhausted... I don’t talk much, but today I need to speak out. And she’s NOT THE ONLY ONE, but today I’m starting with her!”
A Call to Action
Mobimpe has now called on her fans and followers to help by mass-reporting the impersonating channel. She also appealed to anyone with legal, technical, or digital expertise on how to take such channels down effectively.
“Please fam, go on YouTube for me and report this page: Mobimpewrite’s Stories... If you know ANY solid way to bring these channels down legally, technically, any method at all, please drop a comment or send a DM.”
She ended her post with a warning to the impersonator:
“Just know that you will not go scot-free. What you’re doing is deeply wrong. You’re impersonating me and deceiving people—and one thing I can assure you is this: you will be caught. Soon.”
Opinion: Time to Take Digital Theft Seriously
Mobimpe’s outcry is a stark reminder of the growing dangers of content theft and impersonation in the digital age — especially for creatives who pour time, emotion, and resources into their craft.
Beyond the emotional toll, such impersonation undermines the authenticity and credibility of creators, and platforms like YouTube must act swiftly when such cases are reported.
Credit must go to where it is due. And in Mobimpe’s case, her message is clear: “Enough of the silence. Enough of people building platforms by tearing others down.”
