Cubana Chief Priest Speaks on Missing Davido’s Miami Wedding: “Delay Is Never Denial”

Cubana Chief Priest Speaks on Missing Davido’s Miami Wedding: “Delay Is Never Denial”

For many of Davido’s friends, the Miami white wedding to Chioma was the highlight of the year — a glittering celebration of love, music, and friendship. But for Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, the day came with bittersweet emotions.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the celebrity barman opened up about why he couldn’t attend the lavish ceremony, citing his long-standing U.S. visa issues. Despite his fame and success, he said, some life challenges serve as humbling reminders that “you are powerless regardless of all you may think you have.”

Sharing memories from Davido’s traditional wedding in Lagos last year, he admitted waking up with “mixed feelings” — joy for his best friend and sadness at being thousands of miles away.

“I appreciate the bashing,” he said in response to criticism over his absence, “because that has given me multiple reasons and proofs to apply again.” Addressing the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria directly, he pleaded: “Do it for me this time. Delay is never denial — CP is still hopeful.”

Cubana Chief Priest revealed that his wife and family attended in his place, ensuring that “the largest part of me” was present. He described his wife as “beautiful, elegant, expensive, eloquent and sophisticated,” proudly noting that she was there to share in the couple’s bliss.

The entrepreneur also hinted that he will reapply for a visa next week, urging the embassy to “give me access to the greatest country in the world. This pain is really paining.”

In a January interview on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds, he explained that errors made on his first visa application years ago continue to affect his status. “Somebody filled out my form when I was much younger,” he said, “and those mistakes still pop up during interviews.”

Opinion:
Cubana Chief Priest’s situation is a reminder that wealth and influence don’t always grant access to every door — sometimes, bureaucracy and past missteps have the final say. But his openness and humor in sharing the disappointment show a side of celebrity life many fans rarely see.

It also sparks a broader conversation about how old administrative errors can haunt people for years, even in the digital age. Whether you’re a global superstar’s best friend or an everyday citizen, the frustration of paperwork gone wrong is a shared human experience.

Still, if there’s one thing we’ve learned from Cubana Chief Priest, it’s that optimism is part of his brand. As he says, “Delay is never denial” — and maybe next time, the U.S. will finally roll out the welcome mat for him.
