Two Real Madrid Stars on Saudi Arabia Radar
At least two Real Madrid players — Dani Ceballos and David Alaba — could be heading for a big-money move to Saudi Arabia, according to Spanish outlet Marca.
While no formal offers have been tabled yet, Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr and Al Hilal have reportedly expressed interest in the duo. The clubs, known for snapping up high-profile talent, are also said to be monitoring Mason Greenwood, Conan, and Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.
For Alaba, the timing could be significant. The Austrian defender has just one year left on his Real Madrid contract, and the club might opt against an extension. Ceballos, meanwhile, is being strongly linked with a return to his former club, Real Betis. His future is expected to be decided in the final days of the transfer window once the new LaLiga season is underway.
Opinion:
Saudi Arabia’s aggressive push to attract world-class talent isn’t slowing down — and the possible loss of Alaba and Ceballos could be another example of the shift in football’s global power balance. For Madrid, letting Alaba go without a renewal could free up space for younger defensive reinforcements, but losing his experience would be a gamble.
As for Ceballos, a return to Betis might offer more game time and emotional connection, but the lure of Saudi money could complicate the choice. With the clock ticking on the transfer window, the next few weeks could be decisive not just for their careers, but for how Madrid reshapes its squad.
