Kunle Afod Sparks Debate Over Infidelity and Marriage in Candid Interview

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod has stirred conversations with his outspoken views on infidelity, marriage, and women’s role in the home.

In a recent interview with actress Biola Bayo, Afod argued that women cheat just as much as men but are more discreet in covering their tracks. He further linked the growing wave of DNA tests in Nigeria to alleged female infidelity.

“I believe women cheat just as men, just that they are smarter. Immediately a man starts having an affair, the wife will notice. A man who cheats with a woman, not a wood. The issue of DNA has most women as culprits,” Afod said.

The actor also courted controversy with his criticism of sex toys, equating the use of dildos to “worshipping an idol.”
“Women now cheat to the extent of having multiple dildos. Is one dildo not enough? I don’t want to cheat on my husband, yet you bought a dildo. In my heart, you already worshipped an idol,” he added.

Despite the strong remarks, Afod took time to praise his wife, Desola, acknowledging the challenges in their marriage but describing her as “the best woman ever.” He emphasized the importance of women in holding families together.
“Any home that survives the test of time, the woman is the one responsible for it. My wife and I have our own issues, just the same way, but it’s every home. But I want to tell her today that she is the best woman ever,” he said.

Opinion:
Kunle Afod’s comments reflect a mix of cultural conservatism and personal experience that resonates with some but unsettles others. His take on infidelity highlights a long-standing societal debate: are women truly “better at cheating,” or is it simply that society has historically been harsher in judging women than men?

The dildo analogy, while provocative, might also be seen as symbolic of deeper anxieties about changing sexual norms and women’s autonomy in relationships. Whether one agrees or not, it sparks important conversations about how intimacy and fidelity are defined in modern marriages.

What stands out most, however, is Afod’s public tribute to his wife. In a culture where many men shy away from openly praising their spouses, his acknowledgment of Desola’s strength is both refreshing and admirable. It shows that beyond the controversies, Afod values family and recognizes the indispensable role women play in sustaining homes.

In the end, Afod’s interview is a mirror of society itself—torn between tradition and modernity, wrestling with shifting values, yet still holding onto the belief that love, respect, and resilience remain the pillars of lasting relationships.
