Odumodublvck Sparks Debate After Saying Appearing on EFCC Wanted List Is His “Dream”

Odumodublvck Sparks Debate After Saying Appearing on EFCC Wanted List Is His “Dream”

Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has stirred conversations online after jokingly stating that it would be a “dream come true” to one day appear on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) wanted list.

His remark came in reaction to the anti-graft agency’s recent notice declaring luxury property developer Olasijibomi “Sujimoto” Ogundele wanted.

The rapper, known for his unfiltered and often controversial style, playfully suggested that he would consider it a personal achievement if his name ever appeared on an EFCC flier, even if only temporarily.

“MY DREAM IS TO APPEAR HERE ONE DAY. SO I GO FIT COMMOT TALK ‘EFCC IF YOU LIKE GYM’ EVEN IF NA FOR 1 WEEK. ABEG MAKE UNA COME HOL ME 🤲🏿🙏🏿,” he wrote.

While some fans laughed at the post and took it as Odumodublvck’s usual brand of humor, others criticized him for making light of an issue tied to corruption and fraud.

Reactions poured in online:

  • Odessa: “I don’t find this funny at all. EFCC is not something you joke with… it looks insensitive.”

  • Semaj: “Appear as wanted?? There’s no flex in this if we’re being honest.”

  • BadBoyEmizo: “E no hard… just spray naira notes post am online tag them.”

  • Stan212: “DO YOUR MUSIC AND LEAVE NOTICE ME. YOU ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A WAY TO BE IN ON NEWS BRUH.”

Opinion

Odumodublvck’s comment is a classic example of how humor and controversy often collide in Nigerian pop culture. On the surface, it looks like a harmless joke, consistent with his rebellious persona. But when placed in the context of Nigeria’s long battle with corruption and the EFCC’s role—however imperfect—his statement takes on a more sensitive undertone.

For many Nigerians, the EFCC is more than just a name on a flier. It represents years of systemic failure, public mistrust, and the struggles of citizens who bear the brunt of economic mismanagement. To glamorize or romanticize being declared wanted can feel tone-deaf, especially at a time when corruption-related crimes still choke the nation’s progress.

That said, Odumodublvck’s remark also highlights another reality: how much faith in institutions has eroded. For young people who no longer see the EFCC as credible, being on their radar has turned into satire rather than shame. It says more about how Nigerians perceive the agency today than it does about Odumodublvck himself.

In the end, the rapper may have meant it as a joke—but the mixed reactions show that Nigeria’s relationship with corruption, accountability, and even humor around it is far more complicated than a viral tweet.
