Ceeza Milli Opens Up on Prison Experience, Mental Health Struggles

Ceeza Milli Opens Up on Prison Experience, Mental Health Struggles

Nigerian singer Ceeza Milli has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of his life, revealing that he spent time in a Nigerian prison—a period he says left lasting psychological effects on him.

Speaking during a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, the singer disclosed that the experience pushed him into a depressive phase, though he chose not to reveal the circumstances surrounding his imprisonment.

“I went through a depressive stage, I went to jail. I suffered in Nigerian prison,” Ceeza Milli said.

According to the artiste, the ordeal took a toll on his mental and physical well-being, and while he is doing better now, he admitted that he is still working towards full recovery health-wise. Addressing recent comments about his appearance, Ceeza Milli clarified that his current weight loss journey is strictly for health reasons and not influenced by online criticism.

He also made it clear that internet trolls no longer affect him, stressing that he has grown past the need for public validation.

In the same interview, the singer expressed appreciation to Wizkid, acknowledging the global superstar’s role in supporting his career at a crucial time.

“Wizkid tried for me, he gave me collaborations that made me feed my family,” he said, adding that there was only so much Wizkid could do due to his existing record label commitments at the time.

Opinion: A Rare Moment of Honesty That Matters

Ceeza Milli’s revelation is both brave and important. In an industry where success stories are often polished and pain is hidden, his honesty sheds light on the human cost behind fame. Talking openly about imprisonment and depression—especially in a society where such topics are still heavily stigmatized—helps normalize conversations around mental health and personal setbacks.

His story also serves as a reminder that one difficult chapter does not define a person’s entire journey. Survival, healing, and growth are victories on their own. By acknowledging Wizkid’s support without exaggeration or entitlement, Ceeza Milli also shows maturity and gratitude—qualities sometimes missing in public narratives.

Ultimately, this is not just a story about jail or depression; it’s about resilience, accountability, and choosing to move forward quietly but intentionally. And for fans and upcoming artistes alike, it’s a powerful reminder that falling doesn’t mean the story is over.
