Harrysong Responds to Ex-Wife Alexer’s Custody Statement, Emphasizes Children’s Well-Being
Nigerian singer Harrysong has addressed claims surrounding the custody of his two young children, following an emotional revelation from his ex-wife, Alexer Peres, that she would temporarily step aside from their care.
Alexer had shared a heartfelt video on her Instagram story explaining her decision, describing it as a difficult and painful choice after years of managing the children post-separation. She noted that the children had primarily been living with her, attending school from her home, and only seeing their father occasionally.
In response, Harrysong took to Instagram on Friday to clarify his stance, emphasizing that his silence up to now had been deliberate. He explained that his primary focus is the well-being of their children and protecting Alexer from unnecessary scrutiny.
“I’ve chosen restraint to protect the mother of my children and, most importantly, our kids because what’s said online lives forever,” he wrote.
“I previously made the mistake of speaking from emotion and learnt the hard way. I never said she couldn’t have access to them. Them being in my custody is a decision made for reasons you can’t put out on the internet. I’ve remained an active, present father and have continued to provide for our children, even while they were in her care.”
Harrysong further expressed concern about the negative impact of online narratives, stressing that public back-and-forth could harm the children and even affect his career, which supports the family.
Opinion: Privacy and Protection Should Come First
This situation highlights the delicate balance between public curiosity and the private realities of co-parenting. While social media often magnifies personal disputes, Harrysong’s measured response demonstrates a thoughtful approach: prioritizing children’s emotional stability over public opinion.
Co-parenting after separation is rarely straightforward, and the public rarely sees the nuances involved. Both Harrysong and Alexer appear committed to their children’s welfare, even if that means making decisions that may not be easily understood online.
In an era where every comment and post can be amplified, their focus on privacy, restraint, and protection sets a commendable example. Ultimately, the narrative should not be about social media debates but about ensuring the children grow up in a safe and loving environment — a responsibility both parents seem intent on honoring.
